The world of commercial property REITs is far more than just offices, shopping malls and warehouses, providing broad diversification. Longer-term performance has been robust, although short-term returns have been poor relative to other asset classes, perhaps leading some to question an allocation to it. All asset classes in a diversified portfolio have their day in the sun (and the shade). Reminding ourselves that all of the doom and gloom narrative is already in the price is useful and helps avoid short-term performance-driven decisions.
