Acuity 48: Don't panic when markets fall

However much we know deep down that our investments will ride out the ups and down of the stock market, it's only natural to feel a little jittery when faced with the uncertainty of Brexit, the unpredictability of Donald Trump, the prospect of a US-China trade war and goodness knows what else.

It's at times like this that perspective is called for. Firstly, we need to remember that we are investing for the long-term and 'these things shall pass'.

There's also the human tendency to forget the steady gains and focus instead on the peaks and troughs of the stock market - all of which play on our emotions more than they should.

The latest volume of Acuity helps put panic into perspective.
